The Aerospace, Defense and Marine (AD&M) business unit of Tyco Electronics has an opportunity for a Business and Development Manager to lead its sales & marketing efforts in the Russian marine market. AD&M anticipates tremendous growth in Russia over the next several years across all its market segments and is committed to be an important supplier in the region as the Russian market expands.
In order to best position itself for near and long-term growth in Russia, AD&M will be hiring a business development professional who is familiar with the marine / off-shore segment, as well as the related supply chain landscape in the region. The business development manager will ideally be someone who has experience and relationships within the Russian marine industry – specifically familiar with the large and developing shipyards within the country, as well as the technical expertise and interpersonal skills to sell AD&M solutions.
A key role of the successful candidate will be to work with local Russian competitors on joint venture opportunities in order to open up currently closed or limited business opportunities. The individual is expected to be a strategic thinker with strong business acumen as his/her input will frequently be sought by AD&M management on a variety of business issues addressing the company’s position in Russia in the marine segment.
Key Duties
Partner with various functional areas within Tyco Electronics (e.g., engineering, design, product management, customer service, etc.) to sell off-the-shelf and customized solutions for existing and next generation applications
Work with shipyards and local manufacturers to develop business relationships and possible joint ventures to break into the numerous market opportunities that TE is not exploiting
Grow the off shore / oil & gas exploration market within Russia.
Develop strong and productive relationships with both Russian-based enterprises as well as multinational companies with operations in Russia to position AD&M for design wins on their respective platform development programs.
Provide strategic direction for the AD&M’s current selling resources in Russia as it relates to the marine market segment.
Understand available internal resources to assist in winning business and effectively utilizing those tools (outside marketing, design engineering support, etc.).
Key Requirements
Bachelors / College degree (or equivalent), preferably in a technical field (engineering)
Prior work experience and / or business contacts within the marine / off shore markets and shipyards
Ability to grow relationships with local Russian-owned companies
Experience in dealing with multi-national organizations
Familiarity with electronics systems and components
Knowledge of product development design and life cycles is important
Working knowledge of full supply chain (manufacturing, materials, procurement and quality). Must be able to address customer questions regarding manufacturing capability & process
Ability to work with or experience working in government / military agencies will be helpful
